City Men’s Basketball League Completes Second Season
March 18th, 2014 – It was another slam dunk season for the City Men’s Basketball League in New Rockford. The weekly games drew in 40 players for five teams, which faced off at the New Rockford-Sheyenne School gymnasium during the fall and winter.
Each player in the league paid an entry fee to help cover the cost of referees and scorekeepers for the season. The teams played a fourteen week season, capped off by a double elimination championship tournament. This year’s champions were the “Yellow” team, made up of Reed Ystaas, Reed Weisenburger, Josh Langley, Brett Allmaras, Brandon Kolsted, Kyle Johnson, and Hunter Wetzel.
This season’s league was once again sponsored by the New Rockford Lions Club and the New Rockford Eagles Club. The league’s coordinators, Josh Guler and Tyler Cook, say they plan to run the league again next season, and any interested players should contact them in the fall to get on the roster.
