May 21st, 2014 – The New Rockford Community Foundation is pleased to recognize and congratulate the recipients of this year’s local grant awards. Three organizations were awarded grant funding: the New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation (on behalf of the Community Swimming Pool), the Women’s Auxiliary Cemetery Association, and 4th Corporation. All are local non-profit organizations who submitted applications for projects that benefit the New Rockford community.

The New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation received $1700 in funding for the Community Swimming Pool Project, the new ADA accessible swimming pool, bathhouse, and restroom facility to be built for summer 2015.

The Women’s Auxiliary Cemetery Association

received $500 in funding for groundskeeping equipment and waterworks improvements for St. John’s and Prairie Home Cemetery.

4th Corporation received $500 in funding for their Recycling Facility project, a new building for a recycling sorting operation planned both to provide recycling collection services to the community and to generate accessible employment for the individuals they serve.

The New Rockford Community Foundation is a permanent fund created in 2008 through individual and business donations, and grown through fundraisers and donations over the past six years. Each spring, the Foundation advisory board gives away the interest generated by the fund to local groups and organizations, leaving the fund intact to create a secure source of grant money in perpetuity. The fund is administered by the North Dakota Community Foundation, a state-level endowment which manages dozens of similar funds for other North Dakota communities.

The Foundation grant cycle for each year opens April 1 and ends April 30. All non-profit organizations and units of government that primarily serve New Rockford are welcome

The Foundation holds an annual signature fundraising event, “Deal or No Deal”, which earned approximately $7500 for the endowment fund this year. Next year’s event is planned for March 14, 2015. Individuals, families, businesses, and estates are always welcome to make a donation, in any amount, at any time. Donations are tax-deductible, and business donors qualify for a 40% tax credit on their gift.

To learn more about the NRCF or to make a donation, visit or contact the local coordinator, Jessica Dillon, at (701) 947-2205, or speak to an advisory board member: Josh Guler, Tom Hartl, Laura Anderson, Amy Cudworth, Kerri Allmaras, and Trisa Tedrow. One seat on the advisory board is current open - anyone interested in serving on this volunteer board may contact the coordinator above.
