New Rockford Park Board Hiring Recreation Manager

December 2nd, 2013
– The New Rockford Park Board is currently interviewing candidates for the new position of Park Board Recreation Manager. The Recreation Manager will be responsible for managing the Community Swimming Pool, organizing youth and adult baseball programs, staging tournaments, and creating new recreation and revenue opportunities in the community.

The new position is part of the New Rockford Park District’s plan to increase recreation activity in the area to better serve local families and visitors, generate tourism, and also provide a consistent and professional management presence at the Community Swimming Pool.

“The new manager will start in January, and one of their first projects will be to recruit lifeguards early and coordinate pool procedures. This will allow us to have a prompt season opening and professionally-managed schedule, filled with the maximum open pool days and swimming lessons,” says Judy Allmaras, president of the Park District. Allmaras says the hiring committee has interviewed several qualified applicants and hopes to have the position filled by the end of the year.

The hiring of the manager position coincides with the special election on a proposed funding package for the new swimming pool project. The election, which will be held on December 11, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., is for New Rockford city residents to vote on property tax bonding to help pay for a new swimming pool and bathhouse. Voting will take place at the Brown Memorial Auditorium, 3 7th St S, in New Rockford.

The only item on the ballot will be the funding proposal, which permits the City of New Rockford to bond up to $900,000. A “Yes” vote is in support of the funding for a new pool and a “No” vote is against funding for a new pool. The bonds comprise 60% of the proposed funding plan, with the remaining $600,000 to be generated from extensive grant writing, community fundraising and the city’s general budget fund.
