It’s “Christmas on Broadway” at Opera House Theatre
November 25th, 2013 – Share some festive holiday cheer with Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts in this season’s winter musical Christmas on Broadway. The comedy musical opens December 6 at the historic Opera House theatre in New Rockford, featuring some favorite local performers and Broadway classics in a heartwarming, song-and-dance extravaganza.
The show, written by Rick Lewis, follows the adventures of four snowbound tourists, trapped by a blizzard in an abandoned theatre on Christmas Eve. With only a few trunks of props and costumes, their natural talents, and a shared dream, together they live out their fantasy of starring in a Broadway musical on the most magical night of the year.
The show is directed by DPRCA’s Managing Director, Deb Belquist, with choreography by Patrick Kasper and live music provided by the theatre’s house band. The cast for Christmas on Broadway consists of veteran DPRCA performers Jared Kolles, also the theatre’s Technical Director, Jay Bauer, Susie Sharp, and Annette Hovey, and new to the Opera House stage, Erin Greiner, who patrons may also recognize as the manager of DPRCA’s Latte Lobby coffeeshop.
Tickets to Christmas on Broadway are $22, available now at www.dprca.com or through the box office at (701) 947-2174. The show runs December 6-22 for a total of twelve performances. Show dates and seat availability are listed online, with most performances at 7:30 p.m. and two 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinees.
