Charity 5k Run Draws Strong Crowd
September 11th, 2012 – Rockin’ Fitness held its first charity 5k run/walk, themed “Run for a PKAN Cure”, on Saturday, September 1st in New Rockford. All proceeds from the race were donated to the Kulsrud family of Grace City to help with medical expenses for the treatment of their three sons, all of whom have been diagnosed with a rare neurodegenerative illness known as PKAN. The family surprised runners by joining them in the race that morning.
With the help of the 75 registered participants, both locals and guests of all ages, a total of $900 was raised and donated to the family. The first five finishers and their times were:
David Thomes, Brainerd MN, 19:05
Brandon Miller, Heaton ND, 20:00
Joe Greiner, New Rockford ND, 21:13
Preston Meier, New Rockford ND, 21:50
Lindsay George, Grand Forks ND, 22:01
Congratulations and thanks to all runners, walkers, donors, and volunteers who took part in this important event. The 5k was organized by Rockin’ Fitness and the New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation.
