New Rockford Swimming Pool Ends Successful Season
September 9, 2014 - The 2014 summer season saw an increase in use at the New Rockford Community Swimming Pool. This year there were 3,169 total visitors from June 4 through September 1 compared to the 2013 season which saw 2,224 visitors from June 8 through August 8. The pool also increased the number of days it was open with a total of 79 days of operation in 2014 versus 43 days of operation in 2013.
The increase in attendance and days of operation can be contributed to a number of factors. “The pool was able to have a successful season this year mainly because of a dedicated lifeguard staff and the favorable weather we had” said, Drew Kline the Park Recreation Manager. Kline went on to say “These statistics speak to the level of demand within the community for a quality swimming pool facility and we hope to continue supplying that demand with the completion of the New Community Pool Project.” Anyone interested in working as a lifeguard for the 2015 season can contact Drew Kline at 570-449-8894 or at City Hall.
The New Community Pool Project continues to move forward with demolition scheduled for this fall and bidding in early 2015. Fundraising efforts continue in order to stay on time with the project.
