Save the Date for “Deal or No Deal” Fundraiser

February 4th, 2013 – Mark your calendar now for this year’s “Deal or No Deal” fundraiser event, set for Saturday, March 16. The game, based loosely on the hit TV show, will award $2000 in cash prizes and several large giveaway items, in addition to a full catered dinner.

This year’s fundraiser will be sponsored by the New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation, in collaboration with and on behalf of the New Rockford Community Foundation. As with all funds raised or donated to the Foundation, the event’s proceeds will be matched by the North Dakota Community Foundation dollar for dollar, doubling the total impact of the event.

The New Rockford Community Foundation raises money and gives away the interest earned on the total fund each year as grants to non-profit organizations in the community. All money raised goes into a permanent fund, providing a source of grant funds for local charities long into the future. Since its inception in 2008, the NRCF has provided $3700 in grants to local organizations. Fundraising in 2012 added $20,000 to the endowment fund, which will be reflected in a significant increase in grant dollars available each spring.

Last year’s Deal or No Deal fundraiser was held on behalf of the Rockford Theatre Digital Projector Project, completed in December, 2012. $2000 cash was awarded to winners Caitie Skalski and Jeff Pfau, while $3600 was generated for the theatre. Individual and business donations at the event more than doubled that amount for a total donation of over $7000.

Watch for more details to be released soon, and for Foundation board members to purchase your tickets for this once-a-year spectacle.
