New Rockford Community Foundation Accepting Grant Applications

March 26th, 2013 – The Advisory Board of the New Rockford Community Foundation is now seeking applications for its fourth annual round of grants. There is approximately $2,200 available to disperse this grant cycle. Applications are available at the New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation office in City Hall, or online at www.ndcf.net/newrockford. The deadline for accepting applications is April 30, 2013.

Applicants must be a qualified organization designated as a non-profit, tax exempt group under IRS code 501(c)3 or have an official relationship with government such as a school, park district or city. Grants will be given to organizations that primarily serve the community of New Rockford, and will generally not support an organization’s day-to-day operational expenses. Grant size will be determined by the number of applicants and the impact of the project on the community.

The Foundation awarded two grants in 2012. The Eddy-New Rockford Library received $500 for its e-book lending project, and the Rockford Theatre received $700 for its digital projector upgrade project. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded a total of $3700 to local projects.

The New Rockford Community Foundation is a permanent fund created in 2008 through individual and business donations, and grown through fundraisers and donations over the past five years. Each spring, the Foundation board gives away the interest generated by the fund to local groups and organizations, leaving the fund intact to generate more grant money in perpetuity.
