New Rockford Community Foundation Accepting Grant Applications

March 24th, 2015 – The Advisory Board of the New Rockford Community Foundation is now seeking applications for its sixth annual round of grants. There is approximately $3000 available to disperse this grant cycle. Applications are available at the New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation office in City Hall, or online at www.ndcf.net/newrockford. The deadline for accepting applications is April 30, 2015.

Applicants must be a qualified organization designated as a non-profit, tax exempt group under IRS code 501(c)(3), have an official relationship with government such as a school, park district, or city, or have a qualified 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Grants will be given to organizations that primarily serve the community of New Rockford, and will generally not support an organization’s day-to-day operational expenses. Grant size will be determined by the number of applicants and the impact of the project on the community.

The Foundation awarded three grants in 2014. The Community Swimming Pool Project received $1700, 4th Corporation received $500 towards its Recycling Facility Project, and the Women’s Auxiliary Cemetery Association received $500 for grounds improvements. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded a total of $8400 to local projects.

The New Rockford Community Foundation is a permanent fund created in 2008 through individual and business donations, and grown through fundraisers and donations over the past seven years. Each spring, the Foundation board gives away the interest generated by the fund to local groups and organizations, leaving the fund intact to generate more grant money in perpetuity. The Foundation recently held its annual signature fundraising event, “Deal or No Deal”, which earned approximately $10,400 for the endowment fund through ticket sales, 50/50 raffles, and generous sponsor donations.
