Dakota Spark: Opera House Youth Actors Registration Open
May 6th, 2013 – Registration is still open for the second class series in Dakota Spark’s creative arts program for this summer, the Opera House Youth Actors theatre camp. This session is open to students grades 3-9 from any school district, with a second session for students grades K-2 opening in July. Registration for this session is due by May 22.
Opera House Youth Actors is a musical theatre camp in which students experience stagecraft, costuming, rehearsal and production first-hand, working just like professional actors to put on a play for a real live audience. This session begins May 29 and runs for two and a half weeks, culminating in three public performances of their musical. The program is instructed by musician, director and licensed music teacher Annette Hovey.
Dakota Spark is the new summer creative arts program offered by the Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts in New Rockford. This summer, four class series will be offered for students grades Pre-K through 12, providing experiences in visual arts, theatre, music, dance, language and writing, and more. The next class is Dance Camp, starting June 17, followed by the younger section of Opera House Youth Actors on July 10, and the Studio Arts Class series starts July 29.
Registration forms have been sent home through the schools with elementary students, and are also available at the Latté Lobby coffee shop or online at www.dprca.com/classes/dakotaspark. Contact the Opera House at (701) 947-2174 with any questions.
