March 22nd, 2016
– The Advisory Board of the New Rockford Community Foundation is now seeking applications for its seventh annual round of grants. Approximately $3000 is available to disperse this grant cycle to local projects. The deadline to submit applications is April 29, 2016.

Applicants to the NRCF must be an organization designated as a non-profit, tax-exempt group under IRS code 501(c)(3), have an official relationship with government such as a school, park district, or city, or have a qualified 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Grants will be given to organizations that primarily serve the community of New Rockford, and will generally not support an organization’s day-to-day operational expenses. Grant size will be determined by the number of applicants and the impact of the project on the community.

The Foundation awarded ten grants in 2015. Recipient organizations were the American Legion Post, Central North Dakota Steam Threshers, CHI Health at Home - Mercy Hospice, Community Ambulance Service, Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts, Eddy County Museum, Eddy-NR Library, Community Swimming Pool, New Rockford Fire Department, and New Rockford Park District. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded a total of $11,400 to local projects.

The New Rockford Community Foundation is a permanent fund created in 2008 through individual and business donations, and grown through fundraisers and donations over the past eight years. Each spring, the Foundation board gives away the interest generated by the fund to local groups and organizations, leaving the fund intact to generate more grant money in perpetuity. The Foundation recently held its annual signature fundraising event, “Deal or No Deal”, which earned approximately $9000 for the endowment fund through ticket sales, 50/50 raffles, and generous sponsor donations.

NRCF grant applications are available at the New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation office in City Hall, or online at www.ndcf.net/newrockford.
