Eddy County Museum Opening Memorial Day Weekend
May 17, 2016 – The Eddy County Museum will open for the summer season on Sunday, May 29. The Museum, located at 1115 1st Ave N, across from the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, is open Sundays from 1-4 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Admission is free, with donations accepted and appreciated.
This summer the Museum will be presenting a new temporary exhibit on some of the youth and scouting organizations in the county’s history. Artifacts will be displayed in the Museum’s Church building, and a special guest speaker will be brought in for the annual Ice Cream Social on August 7. The exhibit is expected to be installed in time for the Rhubarb Festival event on June 26.
The Museum is continuing to raise funds for building repairs and other projects, including eventual replacement of roofs, painting, lighting upgrades, and improved accessibility to the buildings. Donations and event proceeds are added to county funding and grantwriting to accomplish these goals.
The Eddy County Museum welcomes volunteers to help with cleaning, exhibit work, and to serve as Sunday afternoon docents. Please contact Historical Society President Jessica Dillon at (701) 947-2205 with any questions, visit www.cityofnewrockford.com/museum, and find the Eddy County Museum on Facebook for photos and updates.
