Rockin' Fitness Offering New Classes

October 18th, 2014
Rockin’ Fitness, New Rockford’s 24-hour fitness center, has unveiled changes to their group fitness class lineup. Three different group fitness programs - Zumba, Core Plus, and Yoga - will be offered starting November 1 for a total of six classes each week.

Zumba® - Zumba® makes fitness fun! This unique exercise routine combines the movements of Latin dance with a calorie-shredding cardio workout, all set to energetic music. Zumba classes, instructed by Erin Greiner, and are held Mondays at 6 p.m. and Wednesdays at 5 p.m.

Yoga - Hatha yoga poses help students gain flexibility, strength, balance, and relieve stress. All levels meet together, from total beginners to more advanced students, in a welcoming, supportive atmosphere. Yoga is instructed by Jessica Dillon, who has led independent yoga classes in New Rockford for nearly four years. Classes are held on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Thursdays at 7 p.m.

Core Plus – Core Plus is replacing pilates in Rockin’ Fitness class lineup. This more intense class features the toning and calorie burn of pilates-based core exercises and the strength training of a light weights routine. Each session focuses on abs, legs, glutes, arms, and back muscles. Core Plus is instructed by Jessica Dillon on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and Thursdays at 6 p.m.

The classes are all low-impact on joints, and are designed for students of all levels to practice together, so beginners meet at the same time as more experienced class members. Classes operate on a drop-in basis, meaning students may join at any time and are not required to attend every class.

All group fitness classes are held at the Dance Studio, next door to the Opera House on Central Avenue in New Rockford. All classes are open to the public, no membership at the fitness center is required. However, gym members are eligible for unlimited monthly class passes, and those members enrolled in Blue Cross health club rebates may use class attendance towards their monthly quota.

The single class rate for any Rockin’ Fitness class is just $5, and the first class of each type is free for anyone to try. 10-class punch cards are available for $40. Gym members are also eligible for an unlimited monthly class pass for $15.

Rockin’ Fitness is also a SilverSneakers and Silver&Fit facility. These programs, designed especially for older adults, provide a free basic gym membership for seniors with certain Medicare plans. SilverSneakers and Silver&Fit members may purchase an unlimited monthly class pass to add to their free membership.
