Self-Defense Class to Be Offered in New Rockford

Feb 11th, 2014
– Rockin’ Fitness in New Rockford is partnering with Rick Senger of Lake Region State College to offer a one-time class in Basic Self Defense to the public. The class will be held on Saturday, March 1, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Brown Memorial and is open to the public. Pre-registration is required, as space is limited – a signed waiver and payment of $30 per student must be received by Rockin’ Fitness by February 25 for guaranteed placement.

The goals of the class are to give students a basic knowledge of how to avoid dangerous situations, and physical skills to defend themselves against an aggressor. There is no minimum age for the class, though situations and tactics presented may be geared towards adults and young adults.

Senger has extensive experience in law enforcement and martial arts. He is a Navy veteran and has been teaching martial arts since 1985. He has conducted trainings in self-defense and personal protection to groups, such as police officers, nurses, teachers, women's groups, state organizations, Canadian RCMP officers, North Dakota National Guard security personnel, and private security firms. His certifications include Japan Karate-do Ryobu-kai, Redman (force on force), P.P.C.T. Defensive Tactics, and pepper spray.

Waivers are available at Rockin’ Fitness at 803 1st Ave N, New Rockford and online here. Please contact Brittany with any questions at (701) 947-2830.
