Chamber Hosting Business Succession Planning
April 27, 2017 - The New Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Business Succession Planning seminar on Monday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. inside MC’s Hole in the Wall, behind Buck-its Bar in New Rockford.
The purpose of the session is to help small business owners create a plan to ensure their business continues to operate in the community upon their retirement or other exit.
All too frequently business owners simply close their doors and liquidate assets rather than attempt to sell the business. Succession planning is a practical tool business owners can use to identify a strategy to carry on the business in their absence. Every succession plan should be formulated according to the unique circumstances of the business and the business owner. Still, there are several issues that will need to be addressed in all cases.
Succession planning is a process that doesn’t have to be painful. This workshop will cover the basic concepts of succession planning and the steps to begin taking to get you to the finish line.
This session is led by Mary Beth Votava, Regional Director for the Minot Small Business Development Center (SBDC), who is also a certified business appraiser. She prepared and delivered the presentation to a statewide audience recently in partnership with the North Dakota SBDC and the Small Business Administration.
Cost is $10 per person for Chamber member businesses and $20 for non-members and includes a meal. Please RSVP by Wednesday, May 10. Call (701) 947-2211 and leave a message or email newrockfordchamber@gmail.com.
