Chamber of Commerce Unveils “Chamber Bucks” Redesign
September 23rd, 2013 – The New Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce has redesigned and streamlined their “Chamber Bucks” local currency system to help promote shopping at local businesses. Formerly designed to work like gift certificates, the new Chamber Bucks can be used exactly like cash at more than three dozen New Rockford Chamber member businesses, which are listed directly on the bills. There is no fee whatsoever for either the shopper or the member business to use or accept Chamber Bucks.
Many organizations have already been purchasing the new Chamber Bucks to use as contest prizes and thank you gifts, as a way to encourage local shopping. Chamber vice president Sarah Smith Warren, who has managed the program overhaul, explains, “It’s basically a convenient way to give a local gift certificate that the recipient can use for a wide range of products and services, anything from groceries to show tickets to snow tires, and everything in between.”
Chamber Bucks, which look like sleek, colorful play money with New Rockford’s downtown in the background, can be purchased in $5, $10, $20, and $50 denominations at Bank Forward, Community Credit Union, and Baker’s Dozen.
Chamber Bucks are currently accepted at the following Chamber businesses: Bakers Dozen, Bison Lodge, Brad Georgeson Massage, Buck it’s Bar & Lodge, Cash & Carry Lumber, Central Pharmacy, Do It Best/Napa Auto Parts, Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts/Latté Lobby/Upstage Gallery, Eagles Club, CenDak Farmers Union, Flower Scent’r, G & R Feed, Gavilon, Heskin Grain Processing, Hideaway Salon, James River Dentistry, Just 4 Kidz Child Care, Lions Club, Log Cabin Liquors, Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, M & M Bait, Mill Pump & Cheers, Millers Fresh Foods, New Rockford Golf Club, NRS School, Nicolai Chiropractic, Pioneer Auto, Rockford Café, Rockford Theatre, Rockin’ Fitness, Taverna Electric, Tony’s Repair, Transcript Publishing, and Wonder Lanes.
