Zumba® Dance Aerobics Coming to Rockin’ Fitness

February 4th, 2013 – Rockin’ Fitness in New Rockford will soon offer the fast, fun fitness phenomenon Zumba® as part of its group exercise class lineup. Instructor Kathy Teschner will hold her first class Wednesday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the DPRCA Dance Studio. The classes will be held once a week at first, with the possibility of more classes at a later date.

Zumba is a dance fitness program created by choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez in Colombia during the 1990s. The program combines international music with hip dance moves to make exercise fun. The workouts are cardio-intense, but low-impact on joints, and suitable for people of all ages.

In a typical class, an instructor plans routines set to different songs to focus on different body areas. The constant movement burns 500-1000 calories per hour, depending on a student’s individual intensity, and students are able to adapt the movements to suit their own goals and abilities.

“We’re very excited to bring in a different kind of class,” says Rockin’ Fitness Manager Brittany Allmaras. “We know a lot of people here really enjoyed Zumba when it has been offered, and we get requests for it all the time.”

Rockin’ Fitness currently offers BodyPump and pilates classes, and yoga is also available at the studio. All classes are open to gym members and non-members alike. Attendance at any Rockin’ Fitness class is $5 to drop-in, $30 for a 10-class punch card (valid for all three classes), or members may add unlimited classes to their membership for just $10 per month.

Previous Zumba students with punches remaining on class punch cards from other instructors may be eligible to trade the card in for credit towards a Rockin’ Fitness punch card. For more information on this offer, Rockin’ Fitness, or any classes, contact Brittany at (701) 947-2830.
