The New Rockford Community Foundation is a permanent fund created in 2008 through individual and business donations, and grown through fundraisers and donations over the subsequent years. Each spring, the Foundation advisory board gives away the interest generated by the fund to local groups and organizations, leaving the fund intact to create a secure source of grant money in perpetuity. The fund is administered by the North Dakota Community Foundation, a state-level endowment which manages dozens of similar funds for other North Dakota communities.
The Foundation grant cycle for each year opens April 1 and ends April 30. All non-profit organizations and units of government that primarily serve New Rockford are welcome to apply for funding. To date the Foundation has granted over $17,500 to community projects.
