SilverSneakers Program to Provide Free Memberships at Rockin’ Fitness
May 6th, 2013 – Rockin’ Fitness in New Rockford has been selected as one of 11,000 health centers nationwide to participate in the SilverSneakers Fitness Program. This program, designed especially for older adults, provides a free basic gym membership for Medicare program participants.
More than 40 different Medicare health plans offer the program as a benefit for members. The North Dakota plans that currently offer SilverSneakers are: BCBS of ND - Medicare Supplement; Humana - Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement and My Option Fitness Well-Being; Medica - Clear Solution, Prime Solution Value, Prime Solution Basic, Prime Solution Enhanced and Advantage Solution Standard. Any eligibility questions may be directed to Brittany at Rockin’ Fitness or your insurance company.
SilverSneakers members will receive a free basic membership at Rockin’ Fitness, including 24-hour access to the fitness center and use of all fitness equipment. Participation in classes is extra, either by purchasing a $10 per month unlimited class plan or a class punch card (10 classes for $30).
To start using SilverSneakers, simply bring in the member ID card that was sent out by your Medicare program. If you do not currently have a card, stop in at the fitness center and Brittany will help you order a new one, free of charge.
Enrollment in the program usually takes about 30 minutes. When you come in to sign up, you will also get a tour around the fitness center and an orientation on all the machines and equipment. Regular participation has been shown to help older adults manage their health and increase strength, balance, and endurance.
The SilverSneakers website currently lists 33 participating fitness centers in North Dakota, with New Rockford now joining Rugby and Casselton as the only smaller, rural towns in the state offering the program.

Many of our current members are eligible for free memberships, as well as hundreds of community members and area residents who may not have considered joining before due to cost.
