“Route 66” to Open at Old Church Theatre
November 12th, 2012 – Travel back to a simpler time and “get your kicks” with the musical comedy hit Route 66 at the Old Church Theatre in New Rockford. Four talented grease monkeys hit the Mother Road, singing rock and pop hits from the 1950’s and 60’s. The show opens November 30 and runs through December 23.
In the show, a gang of rowdy Chicago Texaco service station attendants (played by Jared Kolles, Jay Bauer, Loren Nieuwsma and Braxton Meehan) leave behind their snappy uniforms and head off on a road trip to Los Angeles filled with music, dance and good times. The show’s live band brings together many celebrated local musicians, led by Delaine Rademacher and Steve and Cathy Bowman.
Directed by Deb Belquist and choreographed by Patrick Kasper, the show features hit tunes celebrating car culture and the open road, such as “King of the Road”, “Dead Man’s Curve”, “Six Days on the Road”, “Hot Rod Queen”, “I Get Around”, “Little Old Lady from Pasadena”, “GTO”, “Fun-Fun-Fun” and, of course, “Route 66″.
This production will be the first to offer pre-show dinner in the Old Church Theatre’s downstairs dining area, the “Garden of Eatin’ Bistro”. Dinner will be served before shows on December 7-8, 14-15 and 21-22, with choice of seasoned roast beef or stuffed chicken breast. Patrons over the age of 21 will also be able to purchase a glass of wine or beer to enjoy during select performances. Reservations are required for dinner seating.
Show tickets are on sale now at www.dprca.com or at the box office at (701) 947-2174. Dinner reservations are limited, and must be made by phone.
