October 29, 2013 - Twelve students, grades 1-4, participated in the first fall session of Dakota Spark Visual Art classes, a program of Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts in New Rockford. After four weeks of instruction, they are ready to display their works at the DPRCA Upstage Gallery.
The students’ artwork will be displayed and open to the public from November 6 through November 22. Students explored mediums such paint, pencil, pastel, charcoal, and collage to demonstrate artistic concepts such as composition, line, texture, and color.
For their final project, students recreated works from master artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Vincent van Gogh. The instructor, Rachel Brazil says, “It really has been a delight working with these students. I was always impressed by their enthusiasm, curiosity, and overall talent.”
