3rd Annual Opera House Wine Tasting a Success

Sept 30th, 2013 – More than 160 guests spent the beautiful evening of September 28 at the Opera House Wine Tasting in New Rockford, enjoying fine wines, exotic appetizers, and live entertainment while raising money for the Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts.

The signature event raised a significant amount of funds for the non-profit theatre and arts organization through ticket sales, silent and live auctions, raffles, donations and sponsorships. Live musical entertainment was provided throughout the evening by Fargo roots band BOOTS. The wine tasting, music, cash bar, and silent auction were held outdoors in enclosed tents, while food was served inside the Opera House.

Volunteer wine servers poured samples of twelve different international wines, and tasters took around a passport which was stamped as they tried each one. The wines were specifically selected to represent their respective regions. Among them were four white wines, five red wines, one bubbly wine, and a sweet Japanese plum wine. The wines sampled came from around the world: California, Oregon, Argentina, Chile, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Japan. Bottles left over at the end of the evening were live auctioned.

This year’s soirée was sponsored in part by the New Rockford Eagles Club, Warren Implement, Agri-Cover, Millers Fresh Foods, and Gavilon Grain. Hundreds of staff and volunteer hours, generous donors, talented entertainers, and enthusiastic guests made this year’s tasting a fantastic success.

Next up for DPRCA is a fall series of youth dance and art classes, followed by the winter musical, scheduled to start in November. Stay in the loop with DPRCA news and updates on Facebook and at www.dprca.com.
