New Rockford Opera House Hosting Manhattan Short Film Festival
Sept 16th, 2014 – This October 3, 4, and 5, Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts in New Rockford will become one of 250 international theatres to host the 2014 Manhattan Short Film Festival. This unique, global film festival is the final competition stage for ten short films, which have already been selected as finalists from nearly 600 entries.
The films are being shown for one week only to audiences across six continents. New Rockford’s Opera House (818 Central Ave) is the only location in all of North and South Dakota to be selected for participation in the event. Over 100,000 filmgoers are expected to gather for screenings across the globe, each casting their vote for best film and best actor/actress. These votes, including those gathered in New Rockford, will be tallied at the conclusion of the festival and will directly determine the festival award winners.
The ten short films that will be shown each range from 8 to 17 minutes in length. Each of the three days, all ten films will be shown, so guests can attend any of the screenings and participate in voting. Entry is $10, and concessions, including coffees and smoothies from Latte Lobby and wine and beer from Jack’s Tavern, will be available. Show times for the festival are Friday, October 3, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, October 5 at 2:30 p.m.
