City of New Rockford Ballot Deadline April 7
March 3rd, 2014 – The election for city office for two seats on the New Rockford City Commission and three seats on the New Rockford Park District Board will be held June 10, 2014. The filing deadline for candidates for either office is April 7.
The New Rockford City Commission is a five-person board that meets monthly at City Hall, at 7 p.m. the first Monday of the month. The City Commission makes decisions regarding the City’s budget and expenditures, policies, and departments. Commissioners receive a stipend for their time.
The New Rockford Park District Board is a five-person board that meets monthly at City Hall, at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month. The Park Board oversees city parks and facilities and manages recreation programs such as youth baseball, ice skating rink, and the swimming pool. Board members receive a stipend for their time.
Anyone interested in running for either office must collect the requisite number of signatures from eligible voters (residents 18 and older who live within city limits) and file both a Petition/Certificate of Nomination (SFN 2704) and a Statement of Interests (SFN 10172) with the City Auditor by 4:00 p.m. on April 7, 2014. A minimum of 30 signatures will be required, with the recommendation of collecting additional signatures in case of any disqualifications.
To be eligible to run for either office, a candidate must be a resident of New Rockford for at least nine months, live within city limits, be over the age of 18, and not be in default to the city.
