Annual “Tour of the World” Wine Tasting Fundraiser Coming to Opera House
August 19th, 2014 – Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts in New Rockford will host its fourth annual “Tour of the World” gala fundraiser event on Saturday, September 13th. The evening features a full dinner, live music, an optional wine tasting with twelve international wines, and silent and live auctions, all hosted outdoors under a grand tent.
Registration will open at 6:00 p.m., with a social hour until 7:00 p.m., when guests can begin the wine tasting and silent auction. New this year, the event will include a full dinner - staff will be serving a whole roast pig, bison/wild rice meatballs, a corn-on-the-cob buffet with dipping sauces and toppings, dessert, and sides and snacks throughout the night. Live music will be provided by folk/bluegrass/blues artist David Lee, with Anthony Koop.
The full ticket price of $50 will include the signature wine tasting - samples of twelve specially-selected wines representing wine types and regions from around the world - as well as a souvenir etched wine glass to take home. The $35 “Food & Fun ticket”, including all but the wines and souvenir glass, is available for any guest who wishes to attend the event but not participate in the wine tasting. A cash bar will also be open all evening serving wine by the glass, beer, and mixed drinks.
Guests participating in the full wine tasting will receive a “passport” to fill out as they sample the different wines. The tasting’s wine list includes selections from each of three regions: the Americas (with wines from California, Washington, and Argentina), Europe (with wines from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungary, and Portugal), and Down Under (with wines from Australia, New Zealand, and Japan). Servers are trained to provide information on each wine to answer any questions and help guests fully experience the different offerings. Any extra bottles from the tasting are live auctioned at the end of the evening.
The silent auction will feature many artistic and unique items, including pieces created by local and regional artists. Items and services are still being collected for the silent auction, and theatre patrons are invited to donate an item towards the fundraising efforts. Please contact the theatre for more information on making a tax-deductible donation, or drop off an item at the Latté Lobby at any time prior to the event.
This year’s wine tasting is sponsored in part by the New Rockford Eagles Club, Warren Implement, Agri-Cover, Cork & Barrel, North American Bison Cooperative, and Dakota Growers Pasta Company. As DPRCA’s primary annual fundraiser, all proceeds from the event go directly to arts programming, youth arts education, staff salaries, and theatre building improvements.
Mark your calendar and get your tickets now for this one-of-a-kind event. Tickets are limited, so contact the theatre at (701) 947-2174 or stop by the Latté Lobby for more information or to make your reservations.
