Winterfest and Santa Day Coming to New Rockford

November 18th, 2013 – The New Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to begin a new holiday tradition with the addition of Winterfest to the annual Santa Day children’s carnival on Saturday, December 7. With a dozen participating Chamber businesses, there will be something for everyone to enjoy in our hometown winter wonderland.

Children sixth grade and younger are invited to come and play at the Santa Day carnival from 2-4 p.m. at the Brown Memorial. There will be games, toys, and treats from the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce, as well as a very special guest, as Santa himself will make a visit to New Rockford for photos and to listen to the children’s gift wishes.

The Rockford Theatre is also carrying on its treasured tradition of a kids’ movie matinee at 1 p.m., with free admission in exchange for a donation of non-perishable food item for the local food pantry.

Winterfest is whole day of open houses, specials, holiday shopping, prize drawings, and special events. Each Chamber business was invited to participate in their own unique way, which turned into a full schedule and a wide range of holiday happenings throughout the day, from live music and free samples to prize drawings and wine tastings. Guests can have some lunch, take in a movie or a show, visit with Santa, buy some gifts, and top it off with a hot toddy.

Check at local businesses for the blue and white Winterfest posters and schedules to take along on your shopping trip, or clip out next week’s events schedule in the Transcript!
