February 24, 2015 – Tickets are now available for Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts’ (DPRCA’s) spring production, Cloak and Dagger, a musical comedy spoof of 1950s detective stories. The show opens March 13 at the Old Church Theatre in New Rockford.

Cloak and Dagger follows down-on-his-luck detective Nick Cutter and femme fatale Helena Troy on their breathless pursuit of a rare treasure – the Golden Venus. Their journey takes them from the slums of Bowery Street to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with no shortage of madcap characters on the way.

The show is directed by DPRCA’s Artistic Director, Elliott Schwab, and produced by Managing Director Deb Belquist, with musical direction by Rachel Markestad. Technical direction and set design for the show are by Jared Kolles, with lights and sound by Case Dillon and Rhianne Bowman. In addition to Schwab and Kolles, the cast includes returning DPRCA performers Tessa Hartl and Jon Johnson.

Schwab says, “We’re trying a lot of new things with this show; pushing boundaries. It’s extremely satirical. Irreverent. Seriously, no nationality is safe (we’re depending on a certain level of immaturity in our audience). We’re also employing a new device in stage-crafting (“developed” by Jared and myself) that we’re very excited about… but you’ll have to come to the show to see it. No spoilers!”

A variety of hot and cold beverages, as well as wine and beer, are available to enjoy during the show. Pre-show dinners are also served in the theatre’s lower level at the Garden of Eatin’ Bistro, by reservation through the box office.

Cloak and Dagger will run at the Old Church Theatre - 529 Central Ave in New Rockford – from March 13 through April 19, for fifteen total performances. Evening shows are at 7:30 p.m. and afternoon shows are 2:30 p.m. matinees. Tickets are on sale now at or at the box office at (701) 947-2174. All tickets are $25.

Volunteers and ushers for shows are always needed and welcome. To connect with DPRCA, visit our website or find us on Facebook at “Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts” for the most up-to-date photos, video clips, and updates.
