– The New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation (NRABC) welcomes Joshua Starke as their new Communications Coordinator, effective January 4.

Joshua Starke was born in New Rockford, ND, graduating from Griggs County High School. He earned an associate’s degree in Sales, Marketing and Management from Northland Community & Technical College in East Grand Forks, MN.

After graduation, Josh owned and operated a small music equipment and lesson studio for three years, before moving back to New Rockford to assist with maintenance of the family farm in the fall of 2015. He is renovating and residing in his great-grandfather Horton Starke’s home, within walking distance of his grandparents Bill and Joyce Starke’s home.

Having grown up in and around the area with many childhood friends and memories, Starke says he is familiar and getting more acquainted with what Eddy County has to offer. He also currently part-time manages Jack’s Tavern, located inside the Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts Opera House in New Rockford, and is taking part in his first theatre production in February with DPRCA, which he says will help in softening the landing in rural North Dakota.

“I am honored to be from New Rockford and to be able to take part in the economic and community development happening here. It is an incredible opportunity for me. I am proud and humbled at the same time. I look forward to becoming a contributing member of the community and what I consider sacred land.”

Starke will be taking on and assisting with numerous NRABC programs, as well as managing social media, the city of New Rockford website, communications, and marketing for the organization and community projects. Organizations, businesses, and the public are all invited to contact the NRABC with any questions or suggestions, and to stop in for a visit any time.

Jessica Dillon, Executive Director of the NRABC says, “We are thrilled to have Josh come aboard. He brings a great passion and enthusiasm for the work and for this community, and we expect very positive things to develop from this partnership.”

The NRABC offices are located at City Hall in New Rockford at 117 1st St S and can be reached at (701) 947-2205. Regular hours are 10-4 Monday through Friday and by appointment.
