New Rockford Park District Welcomes Drew Kline as Recreation Manager
January 27th, 2014 – The New Rockford Park District welcomes Drew Kline as its Recreation Manager, a new position created to provide a year-round managerial presence for the Park Board’s recreation facilities and operations.
Kline is originally from the small town of Hegins in central Pennsylvania. He is a recent graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management. Before accepting the position in New Rockford, he was assistant manager at Sweet Arrow Lake, a local county park in Pennsylvania.
Kline says that this opportunity is a dream job for him. “My hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, and just about any competitive sport. I have only been here for a few weeks but I am already feeling right at home. I am very excited to be here and to help this community further its recreational goals.”
The Recreation Manager position creates a year-round management presence for the Park District’s various recreation programs, such as the swimming pool, baseball programs, and sports tournaments, as well as fundraising and grant writing for facility improvements and future projects. This year will focus on pool management and the new community swimming pool construction project, as well as two state-level youth baseball tournaments being hosted by New Rockford this summer. The position is currently funded through a collaboration between the Park Board, the City of New Rockford, and the New Rockford Area Betterment Corporation.
The public is invited to stop in at the Park District offices at City Hall to meet and help welcome Drew to the community. Though office hours often vary due to events and off-site work, City Hall is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
